Oh My Goodness - 100 Hubs Completed!

Updated on April 22, 2010

I have reached my 100th hub. This is an unbelievable milestone for me. I didn’t think that I would be able to write 10, let alone 50 but now I have made it past 100. It is really good what some motivation can do.

I read the hubs of other people who were trying to achieve the challenge of writing 30 hubs in 30 days. I thought that was interesting but I did not think I would be able to find the time to write an article a day. Then I saw that some people had upped the challenge stakes and were aiming to produce 100 hubs in 30 days. That’s 3.3 articles per day. At first I thought people are either mad or they do not have to go out to work so have oodles of time, to sit at home, leisurely sipping on a hot cup of java and lightly tapping away on their computer to their heart’s content.

I am working on ways to make money online, so I was fascinated by the possibility of earning cash via adsense, eBay and Amazon links. I therefore decided to bite the bullet and try myself. Hey, if you are not in the game, you can’t complain.

So I have reached 100 hubs. When I started my own challenge on 16 June 09 I had already written 16 articles so to technically complete this task successfully, I have a further 16 to go and my end date is 16 July 09. It is so funny for me to be able to say, yeah, I can do that, no problem.

What I Have Gained From The Challenge So Far

I have learned that when I put my mind to something, I really can do it. My writing skills have improved too. My early offerings barely scrapped past the 400 word marker. I have to admit to using a lot of fluff and filler words in order to build up my word count. Hopefully I have been able to reduce this somewhat.

I have enjoyed doing research on topics I know very little about. I have read lots and have gathered some fantastic trivia that I hope will help me complete crosswords and to answer trivial pursuit questions in the future. I am still crashing and burning regarding keywords. I think that I have been trying to enter markets that are very competitive and where far more experienced SEO writers are making good money as they know what they are doing.

I love the fact that people from all around the world are reading my stuff and also take the time to leave comments. Many thanks for that.

My Earnings So Far

I have started earning money from adsense with these hubs. The minimum amount has been $0.04 and the maximum for one day was $3.38 so far. I have checked my account and noticed that I have earned something from at least one of my hubs everyday since 22 June. That means 6 days after starting the challenge, I have received clicks. Cool.

I have had absolutely no luck with Amazon and I can’t get an affiliate link with ebay, which is a shame so I will now most probably abandon Amazon unless I am writing a specific product review.

So I have not made enough to retire and buy my own paradise island a la Richard Branson, but seeing the money add up helps to spur me on.

Right, off I go to write hub number 101. Thanks for reading and I would be grateful for any comments about your own experiences.
